HO73/3 extract from Statute
of Westminster; this source is another extract from the same
document from which Source 2 was taken. The whole document,
over 130 pages long, is a discussion of Anglo-Saxon and medieval
crime prevention, as part of an enquiry into Police in the 19th
century (see Gallery Prevention
1750-1900). In this extract
the author makes his own opinions very clear. |

Look for evidence
of how the community system of crime prevention worked. What
did local people have to do and how were they made to do it?
In Source 3: What is the attitude of this writer to these
Anglo-Saxon rules? How can you tell?
