
- Presidents of the USA received thousands of letters
from Americans. Truman's predecessor, Franklin D Roosevelt, used to get 5,000
letters a day.
- We do not know a great deal about the writer. His
letter was found in President Truman's correspondence files.
- As it says in the letter, the writer attached a
copy of an article in the Los Angeles Times which reflected the views of Mr
Johnston. The article was dated September 12th 1948 - the height of the Berlin
Blockade tensions.
